PORTFOLIO

Beginning of January meant deadline for university applications, and I sent five.

The week after the deadline a dozen of e-mails arrived and I have since then been researching and working on a small portfolio that a few of the schools requested. I actually have no idea how big of a deal the portfolio is since you have to make one before even starting the courses but as the perfectionist I am I simply can’t send away anything I’m not pleased with. In other words, I’ve been working really hard the last couple of days combined with a lot of hours at work.

#GIRLBOSS

I’ve only managed to read a few chapters this far but Sophia Amoruso sure is the definition of a girl boss. This book really proves that you can do whatever you want as long as you are willing to work really hard for it.

Had almost forgot how nice it is for the eyes to wear reading glasses while watching TV, working on the computure and ofcourse, while reading.

INTERIOR

Interior and decoration is a big weakness of mine and old buildings like this one never let me down. Big columns, wooden floors, large windows & decorated ceilings, you name it and I’m sold.

NEW IN

A few bits I bought during last week.

LoréalParis Clean Definition Mascara, reading glasses, 2015 calendar & Green Marble Cutting Board. I will also receive the Green Marble Mortar that matches the cutting board for my birthday. Green marble is a bit more unusual and I find it a bit more interesting than the white marble that seems to be everywhere.

FUR BALL

Cold walk with my father and this little fur ball earlier today.

It’s our friend’s dog and they don’t always have time to go home and go for a walk with him in the middle of the day on Mondays so my father offered to go for a walk with him today and since I didn’t had to be at work until one I decided to tag along. When you don’t have a dog yourself you always treasure these opportunities, I love dogs.

POP BUBBLES FIZZ

To begin yesterday’s brunch my father’s cousine had ordered two bottles of champagne as a birthday gift for her mother.

Compared to others around my age I would say that I don’t drink. But, to be completely honest I do drink a glass of wine once or twice a month since I really do appreciate the flavor of a good wine with a nice dinner. Even though the clock hardly had passed 12am the champagne suited the exclusive Grand Hotel brunch very well and the man who served it was so nice that my grandmother almost fell in love with him.

WHAT I WORE TODAY

Today I went to the old Grand Hotel in the city to celebrate my father’s aunts 70th birthday with champagne and brunch.

I wore my Whyred Winona Knit, cigarette pants (similar), New Look Boyfriend Coat (similar), Vans Old Skool & my double pearl earrings (similar). On the picture is also the Zara bag that I received from my parents as a Christmas gift, it got beautiful purple lining.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

41 and still going strong, happy birthday to the legend who is Kate Moss.

AND

Bought this big & that doesn’t fill any function at all.

It’s not going to be placed on my table but on my floor next to my mirror but it photographed poorly there. It’s a bit weird and as mentioned it doesn’t really fill any function but it sure does look nice and gives something extra to my room. I got this urge to redecorate too often and it’s an item that is easy to move around.

I LOVE IT

Célines latest poster girl Joan Didion, photographed by Juergen Teller. This picture was all over Instagram last night and I get why, it’s great. I always fall in love with Célines campaigns because of the pictures and choice in models and this isn’t making me love the way-too-expensive-for-me label even less. (On the other hand, I really don’t fancy Calvin Klein’s campaign with Justin Beiber as much.)

THE SKY IS AWAKE

Yesterday before I had to go to work the sunrise made the sky incredibly beautiful.

Tomorrow this long holiday comes to an end. I’ve only worked two days during the holiday, I got work tomorrow and then life will probably go back to normal when it comes to work. Today I went to the gym and then spent the rest of the day, by my new work table, writing and almost finishing my university application.

WHYRED

One of the two garments that got to go home with me on Saturday, another basic.

I bought yet another basic, this time a black wool knit from Whyred. Yet another basic and yet another item that is rather expensive but in great quality. This one I found at half price so the price was more than reasonable. Just like Filippa K Whyred is also a Swedish brand focusing on minimalistic design and good quality.

WORK SPACE

Bought this table yesterday and put it up after cleaning out my closet and clothing rack. I don’t have a stay-at-home-and-work-on-the-computer kind of job but this still feels like a good work space. I usually move the computer back and forth between the couch and my bed so it feels good and inspiring to finally have a space where I can properly sit down to write and edit.

Now I only need a pillow in a proper size to put on the chair and a few nice posters and pictures to put up on the wall above the table.

SATURDAY

Have had quite a productive day today.

Went up early to go shopping with my mother. I like to shop with her and she doesn’t like to shop with me. I like to pick out things for her but she thinks I’m too picky and a bit of a snob when I shop clothes for myself. She’s right about the picky thing, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing to be picky about clothes. Two garments came home with me, both at half price!

I also managed to go for a walk, clean out more than half of my closet and redecorate a part of my room before the clock turned 9 p.m.

RESOLUTIONS

I don’t think that a New Year is a new beginning and I don’t usually have any New Year’s resolutions, as mentioned I find it all overrated. But these are things I’ve decided to do anyway so why not call them New Year’s resolutions?

Work harder

I want to go back to school and start studying again in the fall and I know that it won’t be easy, not o the way there and not while I’m, hopefully, there.  I know that I need to do my absolute best to stand out and manage to later on get a job within the area I’m going to study.

No more cake
I haven’t been eating candy and crisps and not been drinking soda for over six years and I guess this is the next step. No cakes, cookies or other desserts. None. This is going to be a real challenge since my mother loves to bake.

Don’t be so hard on myself
I’m never pleased with anything I do, I always find flaws in everything I do and in myself and I’m well aware that I need to stop being so goddamn hard on myself. Sometimes I actually am enough and some of the things I do are actually really great.

No more impulse buys

Mainly when it comes to clothes. I haven’t been shopping that much since in June and the shopping pause has given me some perspective. It’s not the quantity but the quality that is the important thing and I guess I’ve already started this resolution by planning my shopping and go for quality garments and even though they are quite expensive they’re worth it.

READING

Got some reading to do and I’m really excited about it. I haven’t been reading that much in the last few years and I think it’s because of the really boring books I had to read in school, it took away the fun in reading.

Style By is the best Swedish magazine in my opinion. The content is really worth the money, you know how you can buy a magazine and then half of it is just ads? There are hardly any ads in this magazine. My favourite part of the magazine is that they in every issue visit someone, who most of the time is working within the fashion industry, and photograph their favourite garments in their own home. It’s nice to get a magazine in the post once a month, every day luxury.

I started reading Man Repeller the same night as I received it and so far it’s both smart and hilarious, just like all of Leandras blog posts. I don’t want it to end but at the same time I want to keep reading and finish it as soon as possible so that I can start reading #GIRLBOSS. Oh the struggles.

LAST NIGHT

Got myself some last minute plans and had a friend over for dinner and dessert before we went out to capture the fireworks.

It was all very calm and cosy and that’s really how I prefer it to be. I find New Years Eve very overrated and the last two years I haven’t had any great spectacular plans. Honestly, it feels like just another Saturday night to me and the day after is just a new day, not a new beginning.
